Department Information:This position is situated within a highly esteemed veterinary medical facility, recognized for its commitment to excellence in animal health care. The department is dedicated to advancing veterinary practices through innovative techniques and collaborative patient management.
Key Responsibilities:The responsibilities of this position encompass a variety of essential tasks, including but not limited to:
- Delivering comprehensive treatment assistance for all patients at the Equine and Livestock Veterinary Center.
- Overseeing all hourly treatments, monitoring, and care routines, with a focus on triaging and managing emergency cases.
- Supporting veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and animal handling procedures.
- Facilitating educational opportunities for students, interns, and residents in the aforementioned duties.
- Managing supplies and equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and repair schedules are adhered to.
- Participating in on-call duties, weekend shifts, and holiday coverage as required.
- Upholding compliance with all infectious disease protocols.
- Assisting with inventory management, billing accuracy, supply procurement, and fostering effective communication with ancillary services.
Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
Qualifications:Applicants should possess a completed accredited training program relevant to the position or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional training, certifications, or licensure may be required for specific roles.
Essential Skills:- Extensive experience in handling large animals.
- Ability to work in environments with sick animals and potentially hazardous materials.
- Strong communication skills, maintaining professionalism in challenging situations.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality customer service.
- Physical capability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Willingness to extend work hours as necessary.
- Team-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Proficiency in utilizing technology and electronic systems.
- Capacity to maintain physical activity for extended periods.
- Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment in patient care.
- Registered Veterinary Technician certification in the relevant state.
- Experience in equine clinical settings, preferably in referral or tertiary care.
- Background in veterinary education facilities.
- A valid driver's license is mandatory and must be obtained within a specified timeframe post-hire.
