Key Responsibilities
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of South Alabama, Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine, is actively seeking candidates for our dynamic Maternal Fetal Medicine Division at the Assistant Professor level. The selected physician will offer both outpatient and inpatient consultative services for high-risk pregnancies. We boast a strong referral network for high-risk cases throughout South Central Alabama and the Gulf Coast. Candidates should possess a keen interest in medical education and student training. Areas of potential growth include genetics and the implications of opioid use during pregnancy. Our department is also initiating several new programs, including Telehealth Medicine.
Our antepartum and Labor and Delivery Units are situated within the distinguished USA Health Children's and Women's Hospital at the University of South Alabama, one of the few free-standing hospitals in the United States dedicated exclusively to the health needs of women and children. The
Level III NICU accommodates 130 beds.
Our faculty practices and AIUM ultrasound facilities are housed in the newly built, state-of-the-art Strada Patient Care Center.

We have active divisions in General Obstetrics and Gynecology, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Reproductive Endocrinology, and Gynecologic Oncology services through the Mitchell Cancer Institute.
Qualified candidates must possess an MD/DO degree, have successfully completed a 4-year ACGME accredited Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program, and have completed an ABOG recognized Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship.
