Role Overview:

We are in search of a proficient and committed Vehicle Maintenance Specialist to join our team, focusing on the upkeep and repair of our fleet of vehicles and ambulances. The Vehicle Maintenance Specialist will be tasked with ensuring that all vehicles and ambulances are maintained in peak operational condition to ensure safety and dependability. This role demands expertise in diagnosing mechanical problems, executing routine maintenance, and performing repairs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain all vehicles and ambulances in optimal operational condition to ensure safety and reliability.
  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
  • Diagnose and repair a range of issues from electrical to mechanical.
  • Manage all diagnostic and emission repairs.
  • Address and resolve HVAC system issues.
  • Perform thorough inspections and preventative maintenance.
  • Complete all necessary equipment repairs.
  • Conduct monthly vehicle safety checklists.
  • Oversee inventory and resources, planning ahead effectively.
  • Manage vehicle logistics including towing, breakdowns, and flat tires.
  • Ensure successful completion of DOT/TLC inspections.
  • Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities.
  • Communicate all documentation and noted maintenance requirements to management.
  • Collaborate with emergency medical services (EMS) teams to ensure fleet readiness.
  • Execute additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience as a mechanic.
  • Possession of personal tools is required.
  • Brakes certification is necessary.
  • A/C certification is preferred (if not held, must be obtained within 6 months).
  • Valid Driver's License (minimum of 2 years) with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Experience with diesel engine repair is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • ASE certification is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with ambulances or ambulettes is a plus but not essential.
  • Welding experience is beneficial but not required.
