Job Summary

KFI Engineers PC is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Commissioning Engineer II to join our team in the Performance Group. This role plays a key part in supporting the successful execution of commissioning, re/retro-commissioning (RCx), and energy audit projects.

The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in HVAC, building operations, or construction fields, an engineering degree, and be familiar with HVAC Test & Balance (TAB) procedures. They will also hold a NEBB Building Systems Commissioning Certification (or equivalent).

This individual will report to the Commissioning Project Manager and support KFI's commissioning team by developing projects and reports and executing field activities. They must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate with others.

Main Responsibilities

  • Field Task Execution: Perform Cx/RCx functional testing of HVAC, lighting, and plumbing systems, including test & balance measurements and processes in new construction and retro-commissioning applications.
  • Reporting: Provide technical write-ups to capture field findings on own projects or in support of other PMs, write technical commissioning and re/retro-commissioning reports, and participate in construction and/or commissioning meetings.
  • Project Management: Complete assigned tasks within the budgets provided by Project Managers, perform design reviews on some projects, develop system construction checklists and functional performance test scripts, and review and comment on equipment submittals related to commissioned systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2+ years of direct HVAC, building operations, or construction fields.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle for work-related travel.
  • Represent the company in a professional manner.
  • Proficient in use of MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.
  • Knowledge of computer technology and specific areas of application.
  • Travel: May include up to 25% domestic travel.

Salary Information

We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
