Role Overview:

The Home Health Aide serves as a vital member of the home care team, operating under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or Therapist. This role involves delivering various personal care services tailored to meet the unique needs of each patient. The Home Health Aide is tasked with monitoring patients, documenting care provided, and reporting observations to ensure high-quality, continuous, and safe care.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Home Health Aide, your duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Delivering personal care services such as:
    • Bathing
    • Back massages
    • Oral hygiene assistance
    • Shampooing
    • Changing bed linens
    • Helping patients with dressing
    • Skin care to prevent breakdown
    • Assisting with toileting needs
    • Maintaining a clean and orderly living environment for patients
  • Planning and preparing healthy meals
  • Assisting patients with feeding when necessary
  • Measuring and recording vital signs as directed (with demonstrated competency)
  • Meeting the agency's daily productivity standards
  • Understanding and adhering to regulations related to home health services
  • Performing simple therapeutic procedures as ordered (with demonstrated competency)
  • Assisting patients with self-administered medications
  • Managing laundry tasks for patients as needed
  • Ensuring patient safety and proper use of equipment
  • Reporting any significant changes in patient condition to the assigned nurse
  • Following organizational documentation and care standards
  • Participating in required meetings and training sessions
  • Performing additional job-related tasks as requested

Qualifications:

  • Active Home Health Aide Certification in California
  • Current CPR certification
  • Valid driver's license with insured vehicle
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written instructions and document care provided
  • Self-motivated with the capacity to work independently
  • Compassionate towards the needs of the ill, injured, and elderly

Physical Demands:

  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to push/pull up to 200 lbs
  • Ability to transfer individuals weighing up to 170 lbs
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and squat
  • Ability to ascend one flight of stairs
  • Ability to walk one mile
  • Ability to sit for a minimum of one hour
  • Visual and auditory acuity
