SUMMARY:
The Retail Operations Associate plays a crucial role in supporting the donation process and enhancing customer experience. This position involves assisting donors with their contributions, organizing merchandise, and ensuring that items are prepared for sale. The associate will also work collaboratively with individuals facing challenges, providing necessary support and guidance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluates donated items for quality and categorizes them appropriately for pricing and distribution.
- Prepares display racks, bins, and other merchandise for the retail environment.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Welcomes donors promptly and courteously, assists with unloading donations, offers tax receipts, and keeps accurate records of donations received.
- Maintains a clean and organized store and processing area, ensuring that merchandise is returned to its designated place and that the environment is tidy.
- Efficiently hangs clothing, attaches price tags, and organizes merchandise on the sales floor to meet productivity standards.
- Contributes to achieving store production and sales targets.
- Adheres to sorting and pricing standards as outlined in operational procedures.
- Proposes enhancements to workflow and job tasks to management.
- Monitors store inventory security and observes customer behavior to prevent theft.
- Participates in training sessions and staff meetings as required.
- Follows all organizational policies and procedures diligently.
- Maintains acceptable attendance and adheres to personal grooming and dress code standards.
- Collaborates with management and team members to ensure timely processing of donations.
- Exemplifies strong work ethics and serves as a positive role model for individuals receiving support services.
- Ensures compliance with safety regulations and maintains cleanliness in the work area, reporting any incidents immediately.
- Upholds confidentiality regarding organizational operations and individuals receiving services.
- Assists in various other tasks as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience in retail or handling second-hand goods is advantageous.
- Familiarity with a diverse range of products to assess their condition and value.
- Ability to make prompt decisions regarding merchandise quality.
- Must possess a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is preferred, along with basic math skills.
- Capability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Willingness to transfer to different locations as needed.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Skill in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with supervisors, colleagues, customers, and donors.
- Commitment to maintaining a positive attitude and professional appearance.
- Experience in providing support to individuals with disabilities or disadvantages is beneficial.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
