Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Architect to join our team at Amentum. As a key member of our database engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining SQL-based application infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement database systems for large-scale applications
  • Develop and maintain database infrastructure, including data modeling and schema design
  • Optimize database performance and troubleshoot issues
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure database systems meet business requirements
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in database management

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in database engineering, with a focus on SQL-based systems
  • Strong understanding of database design principles, data modeling, and schema optimization
  • Experience with Linux system engineering and scripting languages (e.g., BASH)
  • Proficiency in MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MariaDB database development, installation, deployment, and upgrade procedures
  • Source code management experience (Git, SVN, RTC) and CI/CD pipeline
  • COMPTIA Security+ CE certification or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Active Secret Clearance (US citizenship required)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering enterprise-grade database systems (e.g., Sybase, Oracle, MS SQL Server, Open-source Databases)
  • Experience with database performance tuning and query optimization
