Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our Interventional Radiology team at the University of California. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Chief of Interventional Radiology to assess complex cases and perform advanced procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and manage patients with complex interventional radiology cases
  • Perform advanced procedures, including image-guided lumbar punctures, peripheral vascular access placement, and central venous vascular access placement
  • Collaborate with interventional radiologists and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans
  • Conduct clinical consultations, obtain and interpret medical histories, and perform initial and periodic physical exams
  • Prescribe medications and supportive therapies, and provide or mediate patient follow-up
  • Perform daily rounds on hospitalized patients, assess catheters and drains, and review laboratory findings
  • Communicate clinical findings to interventional radiologists, nurses, and interventional radiology technologists
Requirements
  • Graduate from a physician assistant program approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
  • California Physician Assistant (PA) license
  • Current PA Certification from NCCPA
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications with agreement to obtain ART certification within six months of hire
  • Must obtain a California Fluoroscopy Operator Permit within six months of employment
  • Minimum six months working Physician Assistant (PA) experience
  • Experience in treating patients in the field of vascular and interventional radiology
  • Experience in performing more complex interventional procedures, including PICC line placement, vascular access removal, paracentesis, and thoracentesis
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of diseases potentially treated by interventional radiology procedures and how to manage them
  • Knowledge of all types of modalities necessary for patient care and well-being
  • Proven knowledge of common diagnostic tests, exams, and procedures used in adult medicine
  • Experience assessing interventional radiology complications and abnormal lab and diagnostic radiology results
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain good working relationships and communications with physicians, laboratory personnel, and members of the healthcare team
