Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Wound Care Coordinator is tasked with evaluating, planning, and executing care strategies for residents focusing on wound management.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
Must possess an Associate Degree in Nursing or have completed an accredited Registered Nursing Program, evidenced by licensure from a recognized institution; or be a graduate of an accredited Licensed Vocational Nursing Program.


Experience:
Preferred experience in an Acute Care or Skilled Nursing Facility.


Licensure/Certification:
Must hold a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse or LVN in California. BLS certification is required. Training in Wound Management and current knowledge of wound and skin care management protocols is preferred.


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Knowledge of:
- Hospital policies, quality assurance programs, safety protocols, and infection control measures.
- Medical instruments and equipment.
- Medical terminology and hospital operations.
- Proper documentation and effects of medications and narcotics.
- Relevant federal, state, and local nursing regulations.


Ability to:
- Develop and implement individualized wound care plans for residents.
- Foster effective working relationships with physicians, residents, and colleagues.
- Handle emergency situations with sound judgment to avoid negative outcomes.
- Stay updated on advancements in nursing practices.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.


AGE-SPECIFIC COMPETENCY:
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to address the physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs of patients across various age groups.
