Job Summary
This position is accountable for overseeing the construction, upkeep, and repair of the landscaping and grounds within the campus, while also providing support and guidance for grounds activities at affiliated locations.

Major Duties
- Supervise, train, and assess the performance of grounds maintenance and equipment operation personnel.
- Ensure the safe and efficient use of equipment employed in grounds maintenance and related repair tasks.
- Instruct and guide team members in the proper use, care, and maintenance of tools and machinery.
- Plan and organize grounds maintenance operations effectively.
- Gather data for budget estimates and special initiatives; create budgets for equipment and programs; oversee the allocation of funds.
- Implement and uphold safety protocols and procedures.
- Develop long-term strategies, schedule work, assign tasks, and review completed projects and ongoing work.
- Recommend and apply methods and procedures aimed at enhancing the overall efficiency of grounds maintenance activities.
- Analyze labor needs and assign specific tasks to ensure optimal use of personnel and equipment.
- Coordinate and manage ground maintenance assignments; identify and resolve work-related issues.
- Order necessary materials and supplies.

- Ensure staff receive proper training in chemical application; maintain records of chemical usage; stay updated on chemical use regulations.
- Plan, apply fertilizers, mulch, water, transplant, and care for plants.
- Oversee the setup and dismantling of equipment, tables, chairs, and stages for events and programs.
- Manage snow removal operations and the clearing of dead limbs and trees.
- Direct the upkeep of irrigation systems.
- Perform related responsibilities as assigned.
- Maintain regular attendance.

Knowledge Required
- Understanding of grounds and landscape management principles and practices.
- Familiarity with supervisory principles and practices.
- Knowledge of equipment and materials used in grounds maintenance.
- Proficiency in delegating responsibilities and authority.
- Competence in operating computers and job-related software.
- Skills in decision-making and problem-solving.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with the public.
- Proficient in both oral and written communication.

Physical Demands/Work Environment
The work typically involves sitting at a desk or table, and may include intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee may occasionally lift light and heavy objects, climb ladders, use tools or equipment requiring dexterity, distinguish between shades of color, and utilize the sense of smell. The work environment includes an office, stockroom, warehouse, and outdoor settings, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. Exposure to dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, contagious or infectious diseases, and irritating chemicals is common. Use of protective equipment such as masks, goggles, and gloves is required.

Supervisory and Management Responsibility
This position directly supervises one Landscape and Grounds Specialist and three Grounds Foremen, reporting directly to the Director of Facilities Management.

Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge and competency typically associated with a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions, usually requiring one to three years of experience or service.

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
