Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Machine Operator to join our team at Sunrise Systems. As a CNC Machine Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC and/or EDM machines to perform machining operations, fast hole drilling, and graphite shaping on metal castings, forgings, and bar stock.

Key Responsibilities
  • Machine Operation: Set up and operate CNC and/or EDM machines to perform machining operations, fast hole drilling, and graphite shaping on metal castings, forgings, and bar stock.
  • Work Instructions: Study work instructions (mechanical drawings) and set-up instructions to determine machining required, dimensional specifications, work procedures, and methods.
  • Tooling and Equipment: Install work holding devices such as blocks and tooling on the table of the machine using hand tools. Lift work pieces on the table manually or with other material handling equipment and position and secure work pieces on the machine table or in holding devices.
  • Quality Control: Inspect first-run pieces, maintain measured dimension lists, and record and inspect key dimensions for conformance to specifications using micrometers and precision dial gauges.
  • Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot production, machine, and quality problems, and notify supervisors if machined first pieces do not conform to specifications or if machine malfunctions occur.
  • Maintenance: Maintain tools and measuring instruments supplied by the company, and report unusual problems or conditions to supervisors.
  • Company Standards: Maintain company production and quality standards, and observe company safety rules and regulations.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Authorization: Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
  • Experience: Experience in manufacturing is preferred.
  • Skills: Basic mechanical skills, proficient shop math skills, ability to lift/push/pull at least 50 pounds, and ability to work occasional weekend shifts.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Willingness to wear personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and safety shoes.
  • Background Check: Successful completion of a background check and drug screen.
Desired Characteristics
  • Attitude and Work Ethic: Demonstrates a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and self-motivation.
  • Experience and Education: Minimum of one-year experience in EDM/CNC or tooling production or equivalent (equivalent being metronics tech school grad or similar program).
  • Communication and Teamwork: Demonstrates strong communication and follow-up skills, and ability to work with computerized shop floor tools.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Strong team player and flexible, willing to move to different areas, and ability to work alone or as part of a team with minimal supervision.
