Mammography Technologist Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Consistently perform high-quality digital mammograms
  • Follow established protocols based on the needs of the individual patient and ordered exam
  • Explain procedures and observe patients to ensure safety and comfort during the exam
  • Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure the safety of patients and staff
  • Evaluate images for technical quality
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the mammography machine and associated equipment in accordance with infection control policies and procedures

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • Completion of a course in imaging technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and board-certified or board-eligible in Mammography (must obtain certification within one year of hire)
  • Active WA state license or pending application
