Counselor I

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Counselor I to join our team at the Department of Mental Health-MHC Spartanburg. As a Counselor I, you will provide leadership and support in the development, implementation, and evaluation of youth/young adult peer support services.

• Implement program services and activities, including training, communication, and information dissemination.
• Effectively provide and coordinate services for youth/young adults throughout Cherokee, Spartanburg, and Union counties.
• Facilitate meetings and outreach/engagement efforts.
• Work collaboratively with program staff to achieve objectives and performance measures of a grant initiative.

• A high diploma and relevant human services or social services experience.
• A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required experience.
• Peer support certification preferred.
• Per requirements of SAMHSA grant, must have lived experience with a mental illness and have received mental health care services.

• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
