Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $40.95 - $60.87 per hour, determined by the current collective bargaining agreement and may include a step progression. This position is eligible for a $25,000 sign-on bonus plus relocation in accordance with KIUC policy or a $25,000 sign-on bonus plus a one-time $25,000 lump sum relocation package for external candidates only.* *Terms and conditions apply.

Job Description

This role involves performing construction and maintenance work on electric transmission and distribution facilities. Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing transmission and distribution construction work on both energized and de-energized facilities.
  • Operating a service bucket truck in performing work requiring an aerial platform. Climbing poles as required in the performance of the job.
  • Conducting voltage, phase, and load tests of lines. Checking the condition of lines, transformers, and substation equipment for abnormal voltage, overloads, and before energizing.
  • Inspecting conditions to determine location and apparent cause of trouble by testing for grounds, locating fallen trees, or testing transformers.
  • Switching and paralleling company and customer circuits, transmitting clearance, and de-energizing company and customer equipment for construction, maintenance, or repairs.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you'll need to have:

  • A valid State of Hawaii driver's license, class B (CDL).
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and the capability of accepting working instructions to direct assigned personnel.
  • The ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Excellent communication and human relations skills to work and interact with internal and external customers in a professional and cooperative manner.
