We are seeking a highly skilled Ultrasound Tech II to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a key member of our Maternal Fetal Medicine department, you will be responsible for operating diagnostic medical equipment to expose complex diagnostic conditions and performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations.
Key Responsibilities- Assist radiologists in performing invasive diagnostic techniques such as needle biopsies, aspirations, and guided needle-wire placement exams for surgery.
- Evaluate contra-indications and ensure patient safety.
- Perform ultrasound procedures under general or direct supervision.
- Recognize sonographic characteristics of normal and abnormal tissues, structures, and blood flow.
- Analyze sonography findings and provide comprehensive exam results.
- Recognize situations or abnormalities that require direct observation by the radiologist.
- Image structures and obtain Doppler signal recordings.
- Advise radiologists and referring physicians of examination results.
- Completion of a 12-month program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or equivalent certificate program.
- RDMS registration with certification in at least one modality specific to the department of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
- Three years of experience as an Ultrasound Tech.
- Completion of departmental specific Sonographer competencies within 12 months from date of hire.
This is a full-time position with a standard work schedule of 36 hours per week. The salary range is $43.10 per hour, and pay offers are determined by experience and internal equity.
