ROLE OVERVIEW

This role encompasses a range of cleaning, custodial, and general maintenance tasks at the Recreation Center to ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment. Responsibilities include:
  • Performing routine custodial tasks, building upkeep, and minor repairs.
  • Setting up and dismantling event spaces, responding to service requests, and executing additional related duties as necessary.

WORK SCHEDULE
The schedule for this position varies based on departmental needs, as outlined below:
  • Graham Arena: November 1 - March 1: Thursday - Monday: 3 PM - 11:30 PM
  • National Volleyball Center: October 1 - November 1 & March 1 - May 15: Thursday - Monday: 3 PM - 11:30 PM
  • Park Operations Center: May 15 - October 1: Thursday - Monday: 7 AM - 3:30 PM
COMPENSATION
Starting salary is $25.28 per hour, with potential advancement to $32.72.

This position is part of the International Union of Operating Engineers - Local 49, which includes contributions to the Local 49 Central Pension Fund and the City's Public Employee Retirement Association (PERA) pension.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

*Custodial and Maintenance Duties:
  • Clean and maintain floors, restrooms, meeting rooms, and offices.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness during events.
  • Restock supplies and assist in inventory management.
  • Operate various cleaning equipment and tools.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
*Swimming Pool Maintenance:
  • Sanitize pool areas and inspect safety equipment.
  • Conduct daily water quality tests and maintain records.
*Ice Rink Maintenance:
  • Ensure proper maintenance of ice surfaces and equipment.
  • Perform minor repairs as needed.
*Event Preparation:
  • Set up and dismantle equipment for scheduled events.
OTHER DUTIES
Monitor part-time custodial staff and perform additional tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent with two years of relevant experience in custodial or maintenance roles.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license; Certified Ice Technician (CIT) certification within three years of hire.
Desirable Qualifications: Building Utilities Maintenance (B.U.M.) certificate or vocational training in building maintenance.
