The Clinical Specialty Pharmacist is responsible for accurately compounding and dispensing prescribed medications within a retail or healthcare setting. This role includes managing incoming physician inquiries, documenting information in the system, processing prescriptions, and conducting medication utilization assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and manage a specialty pharmacy within the community
  • Deliver the highest standard of pharmaceutical care and services
  • Oversee pharmacy operations
  • Ensure accurate dispensing, ordering, and inventory management of medications, including controlled substances, in compliance with all relevant laws
  • Direct the workflow and efficiency of pharmacy staff, including clerks and technicians, while continuously seeking improvements
  • Effectively utilize automated medication dispensing systems
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to address potential prescription incompatibilities
  • Adhere to all state and federal pharmacy regulations
  • Stay informed on evolving laws and pharmacy programs through ongoing education and literature review
  • Consult with clinic staff and administrators to enhance patient care and pharmacy performance
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations
  • Facilitate patient access to affordable medications
  • Foster a professional and welcoming environment while maintaining a positive demeanor
  • Exhibit professionalism in accordance with company standards, including appearance and conduct

Qualifications:

  • Pharmacy degree (Bachelor's, Master's, or PharmD) from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in retail or clinical pharmacy preferred
  • Certifications in various pharmacy specialties and completion of an accredited residency program are advantageous
  • Active pharmacist license in good standing
  • Registration with the relevant state pharmacy board
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred
  • Familiarity with pharmacy management software
  • Strong technical skills and proficiency in MS Office applications
  • 340B program experience is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, leadership, and communication abilities
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach
  • Able to mentor and supervise staff in a fast-paced environment
  • Adaptable to new challenges
  • Availability to work on Saturdays is preferred
