Job Overview

The Mammography Technologist plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality imaging services. This position involves performing mammographic procedures on both inpatient and outpatient populations in accordance with established departmental protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procedure Execution: Conducts mammographic examinations while ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Patient Preparation: Reviews prescriptions, history questionnaires, and patient records to guarantee all necessary information is available for radiologist assessment.
  • Image Processing: Utilizes the PAC system for processing images and ensures timely completion and verification of cases.
  • Quality Assurance: Analyzes acquired images for accuracy in positioning and labeling, repeating images as necessary to maintain diagnostic integrity.
  • Patient Interaction: Maintains a respectful and responsive relationship with patients, addressing their physical and psychological needs effectively.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensures cleanliness and proper stocking of the work area and radiographic equipment.
  • Collaboration: Works closely with ultrasound departments to facilitate a smooth patient flow.
  • Training and Orientation: Participates in orienting new staff and may serve as a preceptor when requested.
Job Requirements
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years in a similar role is required.
  • Skills: Proficiency in performing screening and diagnostic mammography is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Additional Skills: Experience with DEXA and biopsy procedures is advantageous.
