Job Summary

Amergis is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated ESL Para Educator to join our team. As a Special Education Assistant, you will work closely with students who require instructional and behavioral assistance under the supervision of the special education department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement IEP objectives, including math, reading, speech, and independent skills, in one-on-one or group settings.
  • Facilitate teacher-directed learning activities, such as lesson plans, worksheets, and reinforcement systems.
  • Assist students during general education classes and accompany them during recess and lunch periods.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers and maintain confidentiality regarding student and parent information.
  • Assist with activities of prescribed programs, including those written by related service personnel.
  • Support students in developing independent skills through self-care activities.
  • May be asked to assist in behavior management techniques under the direction of the teacher and/or other school professionals.
  • Perform clerical duties, including making stimuli, making copies, and maintaining a clean and organized classroom.
Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Associates degree or higher.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals.
  • Computer proficiency preferred.
  • Successful completion of background screening and onboarding process.
  • Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Full command, verbal and written, of the English language.
  • Current certificate as applicable per state and/or client requirement.
