Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled ICU Registered Nurse to join our team at Ansible Government Solutions. As a critical care nurse, you will provide direct and indirect nursing care to patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) area of assignment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide critical care nursing to ICU patients, including obtaining patient history and pertinent family history, assessing patient condition, and planning appropriate nursing care.
  • Document patient plan of care and care given in patient's medical record, verifying transcription of physician orders and carrying out prescribed orders.
  • Communicate pertinent patient data to the Charge Nurse and/or Physician as appropriate, re-assessing patient's condition and revising plans-of-care based on identified problems.
  • Administer medications and intravenous (IV) therapies, possessing knowledge of actions and usual dosages of commonly used emergency drugs and their location on the crash cart.
  • Assess and document patient responses to medications, interpret cardiac rhythms and their implications, and reorganize and initiate appropriate measures in emergencies/therapies and surgical/diagnostic procedures.
  • Instruct patients and their families regarding prescribed medications/therapies and surgical/diagnostic procedures, assessing patient/family knowledge level and implementing plan of instructions.
  • Operate defibrillator, electrocardiogram (EKG) machines and cardiac monitors, and other emergency technical equipment, caring for patients with Swan-Gans catheters, arterial lines and mechanical ventilators.
  • Participate in discharge planning, initiating life-saving measures in the absence of Physicians, and maintaining a neat personal appearance and professional decorum.
  • Consistently apply the VA's customer service standards, demonstrating helpful, courteous, and respectful conduct, respecting patient rights, including visual and auditory privacy.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse academic program (BSN or ADN)
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in at least one state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • American Health Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Two (2) years of recent ICU RN work experience
Working Conditions
  • Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
  • Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
  • Lift up to 20 lbs
  • Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
  • Push/pull with 30 lbs of force
