Grand View Hospital is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Patient Care Technician I, Emergency Department to join our team. As a Patient Care Technician I, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting the nursing staff in the Emergency Department.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with patient care activities, such as vital sign measurements, patient transfers, and ambulation, under the supervision of the nursing staff.
- Provide basic nursing care, including skin care, to prevent skin breakdown and maintain/improve skin integrity.
- Respond to emergency situations within the scope of your training and perform under the direction of the nurse.
- Collect blood from patients and prepare the samples for testing per hospital policy.
- Perform EKG studies as ordered per hospital policy.
- Assist with clerical duties, such as answering call bells and responding to patient requests within your scope or communicating patient needs to the nurse.
- Transfers and moves patients via wheelchair, bed, or stretcher to appropriate locations within the hospital.
- Maintain a safe patient environment by ensuring that equipment and supplies are functional, safe, and readily accessible.
- Restock department supplies and perform department-specific maintenance duties as appropriate to the department.
- Act as a patient advocate to ensure safe, appropriate, and quality patient care.
- Adhere to standards of practice for infection control and universal precautions.
- High School Diploma/GED, required
- Basic Life Support (BLS), provided upon hire
