Key Responsibilities:
A typical day for a Recreation Support Specialist at Hackensack Meridian Health involves:

1. Demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of residents' diagnoses and unique requirements.

2. Assessing and re-establishing residents' recreational interests through the execution of activity programs under the guidance of the Director or Therapist.

3. Identifying needs beyond the scope of Recreation Therapy and directing them to the appropriate personnel.

4. Completing necessary documentation promptly and accurately.

5. Performing additional tasks as assigned by the Director or designated representative.

6. Preparing effective verbal and written communications as required.

7. Notifying supervisors and relevant staff of significant issues or concerns.

8. Proposing constructive ideas and suggestions for improvement.

9. Conducting both group and individual programming efficiently while managing time effectively.

10. Operating a van and adhering to transportation protocols.

11. Assisting during outings and special events as needed.

12. Adhering to safety protocols during service delivery.

Additional Responsibilities:
Managing special projects and urgent assignments as necessary, ensuring timely completion.

Qualifications:
Required Skills and Abilities:
1. Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with colleagues.

2. Communicating effectively with staff, medical professionals, residents, their families, visitors, and external agencies.

3. Possessing basic computer skills, including email proficiency.

Preferred Skills and Abilities:
1. Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office.

2. Experience in long-term care settings.

3. Background working with geriatric and disabled populations.

4. High School diploma or equivalent.

5. Bilingual abilities (Spanish) are advantageous.
