Role Overview

Tesla Manufacturing Engineers play a crucial role in designing and developing high-quality manufacturing equipment and processes for our cutting-edge power electronics. This position involves working closely with cross-functional teams to develop efficient manufacturing systems that meet our high standards.


Job Responsibilities
  • Develop manufacturing equipment and fixtures to support early-stage prototype builds
  • Determine and procure necessary equipment for all manufacturing processes used to build the product
  • Work with equipment integrators to design and manufacture equipment and fixtures for medium to high-volume production
  • Manage suppliers during specification, design, buyoff, and installation of manufacturing equipment
  • Characterize and validate new equipment and fixtures for introduction to the production floor
  • Develop new manufacturing processes
  • Determine layout of production workstations for product flow, ergonomics, and efficiency
  • Perform process analysis, DOE, PFMEA, line balancing activities, and capacity modeling/simulation
  • Provide DFM (design for manufacturability) input to design team for process and yield improvements
  • Create detailed manufacturing instructions to train technicians and line operators on new processes and equipment
