Electric Propulsion Engineer

SpaceX is seeking a highly skilled Electric Propulsion Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our propulsion team, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, testing, and providing operational support for our spacecraft electric thrusters.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop highly reliable and manufacturable satellite thrusters
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure efficient and reliable production
  • Design, build, modify, operate, and troubleshoot the electric propulsion test facility
  • Analyze and review data to ensure hardware is operating as expected
  • Spearhead root cause investigations and component redesigns to improve reliability and production rate
  • Develop and execute qualification test plans to ensure readiness for flight
  • Balance rigor with risk tolerance to find the sweet spot in the cost/leadtime/reliability/performance space
  • Fully own critical spaceflight hardware
  • Work in an integrated collaborative team environment
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in an aerospace, physics, mechanical, or other engineering discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in electric propulsion systems design, testing, and analysis
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C/C++, and Matlab
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly cross-functional role
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
