About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Physical Therapy Assistant to join our team at H-E-B Wellness Primary Care. As a Physical Therapy Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the overall effectiveness of our therapy plans and treatment protocols.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with a physical therapist to develop and implement patient therapy plans and treatment protocols
  • Provide feedback and recommendations for treatment plans
  • Implement and administer physical therapy treatment plans as prescribed by a physical therapist
  • Obtain and study medical histories; document patient and clinic records
  • Interview patients; understand patient medical history, assess physical health, and examine as needed
  • Educate and counsel patients; explain treatment plan; promote physical health and wellness
  • Work as part of an integrated health team to provide and ensure continuity of care; develop and implement patient care management plans
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements, and infection control protocols and policies
  • Establish and maintain collaborative, professional relationships with clinic staff
  • Obtain referring physician orders and outside facility images/reports as necessary
  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations
  • Manage and support complex and urgent patient questions and issues. Refer only the most complex issues to the Practice Manager

Requirements:

  • Degree from an accredited physical therapy assistant program
  • Experience working with electronic health records (preferred)
  • Current physical therapy assistant license issued by the Executive Council of Physical and Occupational Therapy Examiners
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain
  • Current BLS certification by an approved American Heart Association organization

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Proficiency in MS Office and other related software/applications
  • Advanced interpersonal, customer service, and issue-resolution skills
  • Advanced written/verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization and follow-through skills; attention to detail
  • Bilingual skills (English-Spanish) a plus
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to quickly learn new procedures/processes
  • Ability to manage multiple, constantly changing priorities and shift focus between tasks
  • Ability to apply good judgment and logic in performing duties and responding to customer needs

Working Conditions:

  • Function in a fast-paced clinic/office environment
  • Sit/stand for extended periods
  • Regularly lift up to 20 lbs
  • Maintain required continuing medical education
