Role Summary:

As a Blood Collection Specialist, you will play a crucial role in patient care by efficiently collecting blood samples while ensuring a positive experience for patients and their families.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Receive and interpret physician orders to collect blood specimens from patients across all age groups, ensuring accurate identification and labeling of samples while fostering a supportive environment.Perform venipuncture, heel sticks, and finger sticks with precision, prioritizing patient safety and specimen integrity.Adhere to clinic protocols for managing electronic medical records, including retrieval, filing, and charging.Promptly transport specimens to designated laboratory areas to facilitate timely testing.Implement universal precautions and comply with infection control and bloodborne pathogen standards.Maintain cleanliness and organization of the phlebotomy workspace and equipment.Possess a foundational understanding of insurance compliance matters.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide support in other clinic areas as needed to ensure team efficiency.Monitor and replenish supply inventory across various workstations.Engage in Performance Improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or GED.Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program or equivalent experience.Prior experience in phlebotomy is preferred.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers is required within three months of hire.Completion of Mandatory Reporter training specific to the population served is required within three months of hire.Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
