Job Summary

The University of Miami is seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist - Level II to join our team in the Department of Radiology. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for performing complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in Nuclear Medicine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain and examine orders for Nuclear Medicine scans to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Verify patient identity and obtain necessary consents and education.
  • Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of Nuclear Medicine scanners and related equipment.
  • Integrate diagnostic, laboratory results, patient history, and medical records to adapt exams as necessary.
  • Adhere to Nuclear Medicine Radiopharmaceuticals and Radio Isotopes protocols to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Assist radiologists with imaging procedures, starting IVs, and injecting contrast, if applicable.
  • Evaluate Nuclear Medicine scans for technical quality and collate processed images in sequence of exposure.
  • Schedule patients for procedures and assist with clerical functions.
  • Charge procedures and supplies in UChart/Radiant.
  • Dispense radiopharmaceuticals orally, as per approved protocol.
  • Load and operate power injectors for contrast media administration.
  • Maintain accurate patient records.
  • Provide assistance with orientation and training of new Nuclear Medicine Technologists.
  • Apply physical age-specific and/or developmental care needs of patients according to their documented physical/developmental requirement.
  • Perform basic nursing functions in the patient's care, such as assisting with bedpans and emesis basins.
  • Assume care for physical and psychological needs of the patient during scanning procedures.
  • Keep work areas clean and sanitary and stock exam/dressing rooms with required supplies.
  • Provide on-call coverage.
  • Report unusual findings in a timely manner to appropriate Radiologist/Supervisory personnel.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a Nuclear Medicine Technology accredited program.
  • NMTCB or ARRT-N registered.
  • Valid State of Florida License as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  • Valid State of Florida License as a General Radiographer or Basic X-Ray Machine Operator.
  • CPR and BLS certification.
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience.
