The University of Miami is seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist - Level II to join our team in the Department of Radiology. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for performing complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in Nuclear Medicine.
Key Responsibilities- Obtain and examine orders for Nuclear Medicine scans to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Verify patient identity and obtain necessary consents and education.
- Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of Nuclear Medicine scanners and related equipment.
- Integrate diagnostic, laboratory results, patient history, and medical records to adapt exams as necessary.
- Adhere to Nuclear Medicine Radiopharmaceuticals and Radio Isotopes protocols to maintain high-quality standards.
- Assist radiologists with imaging procedures, starting IVs, and injecting contrast, if applicable.
- Evaluate Nuclear Medicine scans for technical quality and collate processed images in sequence of exposure.
- Schedule patients for procedures and assist with clerical functions.
- Charge procedures and supplies in UChart/Radiant.
- Dispense radiopharmaceuticals orally, as per approved protocol.
- Load and operate power injectors for contrast media administration.
- Maintain accurate patient records.
- Provide assistance with orientation and training of new Nuclear Medicine Technologists.
- Apply physical age-specific and/or developmental care needs of patients according to their documented physical/developmental requirement.
- Perform basic nursing functions in the patient's care, such as assisting with bedpans and emesis basins.
- Assume care for physical and psychological needs of the patient during scanning procedures.
- Keep work areas clean and sanitary and stock exam/dressing rooms with required supplies.
- Provide on-call coverage.
- Report unusual findings in a timely manner to appropriate Radiologist/Supervisory personnel.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of a Nuclear Medicine Technology accredited program.
- NMTCB or ARRT-N registered.
- Valid State of Florida License as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
- Valid State of Florida License as a General Radiographer or Basic X-Ray Machine Operator.
- CPR and BLS certification.
- Three (3) years of relevant experience.
