About the Units:

The Neuro ICU at Mount Carmel East is a 15-bed facility catering to infants from 22 weeks to term. This unit is classified as Level III and features an open bay along with two private rooms, emphasizing family-centered care.

The Neuro Intermediate Care Unit consists of 32 beds, where the Registered Nurse will encounter a blend of neuro medical/surgical and progressive care patients. This area offers excellent opportunities for professional growth and involvement in various committees at both the system and unit levels. There is also a pathway for neuro-specific nursing certification after a designated period of service.

About Mount Carmel East:

Mount Carmel East boasts a fully integrated cardiovascular center, a Comprehensive Stroke Center, a dedicated Women's Health Center, a maternity center, a Network Cancer Program, and a comprehensive orthopedics and spine program. Additionally, it houses a Level II Trauma Center, ensuring critical access to emergency services in eastern central Ohio.

Recently, we completed a significant modernization project, enhancing our 400-bed facility with all-private rooms. This upgrade includes a new five-story patient tower, an advanced surgical suite with 12 operating rooms, an expanded cafeteria with bistro-style dining, a new main entrance and lobby, improved parking, serene respite areas, and park-like outdoor spaces, all aimed at elevating the patient experience.

Position Responsibilities:

The Registered Nurse (RN) will deliver care in accordance with the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, addressing the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of each patient. The RN is responsible for providing patient care through the Nursing Process, adhering to the standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines of Mount Carmel Health System.

Key Duties:

  • Evaluate and assess patient care for an assigned group, employing evidence-based practices; assist providers with patient assessments, examinations, and treatments; perform basic medical procedures under supervision.
  • Administer medications as directed by the provider, following organizational standards and policies.
  • Support emergency situations under the guidance of the provider.
  • Thoroughly educate patients and families about procedures, diagnoses, and disease processes.
  • Document all relevant assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in accordance with documentation standards.
  • Assume accountability for care provided by both licensed and unlicensed caregivers as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage patient care, including delegation and supervision of team members.
  • Basic computer skills required; experience with EMR systems preferred.
