Respiratory Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Intermountain Health. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will provide advanced-level respiratory care to patients, diagnosing, evaluating, treating, managing, and controlling deficiencies or abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system within the prescription of the ordering physician.
Key Responsibilities- Perform, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic testing procedures according to protocol.
- Obtain arterial gases and oversee the operation of equipment for optimal patient care.
- Initiate Respiratory Protocol according to department criteria and interventions based on the interpretation of assessments.
- Administer medications in a timely and safe manner, evaluating their effect and re-evaluating as needed.
- Maintain awareness of assigned patients' overall condition, communicating and sharing patient information with physicians and nurses.
- Make appropriate recommendations for patient care and recognize the educational needs of patients and families in relation to health promotion and wellness.
- Teach patients and families self-care techniques and modalities.
- Complete documentation according to departmental standards and accurately document productivity information.
- Monitor supplies and equipment, notifying the appropriate person when supplies are low, out on loan, or broken.
- Graduate of an AMA-approved program for Respiratory Therapy.
- Current license for Respiratory Therapy in the state of practice.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification.
- Health Care Provider Life Support certification.
- ACLS certification for critical care.
- Additional certifications may be required for specialty areas (PALS, NALS, etc.).
- Membership in national professional organizations (AARC, NBRC).
- One (1) year of acute or critical care experience.
This position requires ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy is also required.
