Position Summary

The role of Clinical Assistant Professor in Speech-Language Pathology involves guiding and mentoring graduate students, equipping them with essential skills and knowledge necessary for success in the field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide mentorship and oversight to graduate students during their clinical practicum, ensuring compliance with treatment and assessment protocols.
  • Facilitate the design and execution of treatment and assessment strategies, assisting students in developing effective intervention methods.
  • Instruct students on proper documentation and report writing, ensuring thorough and accurate records.
  • Conduct individual meetings with students to review clinical skills, client progress, and performance evaluations, offering constructive feedback for improvement.
  • Supervise and support students during community health initiatives, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
  • Demonstrate professional and ethical conduct in all interactions with students, clients, colleagues, and the community.
  • Participate in various committees at the program, department, college, and university levels, contributing to collaborative decision-making.
  • Engage in the development and implementation of clinical and academic curricula, integrating contemporary best practices.
  • Participate in public and professional service activities, representing the department and promoting its mission.
  • Contribute to scholarly activities relevant to speech-language pathology, advancing knowledge and practice in the field.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the department chair or program director.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a related discipline.
  • Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP).
  • Eligibility to obtain Idaho SLP License upon hire.
  • A minimum of five years of full-time clinical experience.
  • Completion of at least two hours of continuing education in clinical supervision every three years.
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in clinical teaching and supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Specialization in adult rehabilitation (e.g., CVA, TBI, progressive/degenerative disorders, voice).
  • Experience supervising university students in clinical settings.
  • Interest in overseeing additional summer clinical experiences for extra contract work.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is between $78,000 and $85,600 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
