We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions. Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies, embedded systems, and other complex products
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design meets customer requirements and industry standards
  • Develop and maintain design documentation, including 3D models, drawings, and bills of materials
  • Analyze and troubleshoot design issues, and implement corrective actions
  • Work with manufacturing teams to optimize design for manufacturability and reduce production costs
  • Develop and maintain relationships with component vendors and outside manufacturing contractors
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement in our products and processes
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and development, with a focus on complex systems and assemblies
  • Strong knowledge of 3D CAD design tools, including SolidWorks
  • Experience with design for manufacturability, assembly, and testing
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex design issues and implement effective solutions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461
  • Knowledge of injection molding, thermoform, casting, and other high-volume production methods
  • Experience with cable harnesses, wiring, and cable management products
  • Knowledge of UL requirements for safety of electronic assemblies
  • Experience with PCB layout and design
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality management systems
