Psychiatric Nursing Assistant Professional

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Psychiatric Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our outpatient community mental health center. Under the direction of the Medical Director, the CNA will provide comprehensive care and support to children and adults receiving psychiatric services.
This role requires strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to handle stressful situations and maintain composure in crises. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a state-approved CNA certification course, and two years' experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement care plans for individuals with mental health diagnoses.
- Take vital signs and document any changes.
- Observe and report changes in patient condition, including skin color, mental status, and behavior.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe client areas.
- Alert medical staff if a client appears at risk of harming themselves or others.
- Provide administrative support, ensuring the psychiatry department is fully stocked with medical supplies and forms.
- Set up and maintain basic equipment.
- Coordinate neuroimaging and lab requests, monitoring and recording results in patient charts.
- Function as the authorized clozapine prescriber designee, providing oversight and monitoring in compliance with the Clozapine REMS Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy.
- Assist with pre-authorizations for prescribed medications and coordinate care with pharmacies, primary care physicians, and insurance providers.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with State regulations, Agency policies, and managed healthcare requirements.
- Interact positively and professionally with clients and staff.
- Complete mandatory training to maintain state, CBH, and NIAC credentialing.
- Comply with all applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
- Promote a safe work environment that values Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA).
- Perform other duties as requested by the Medical Director.
