As an Assistant Project Engineer Intern, you'll play a vital role in supporting our operations team, working on real-world projects that shape the built environment.

As a valued member of our project team, you'll have opportunities to develop construction management expertise, learn technology applications that support efficient project delivery, and participate in a wide range of project planning and management services. You'll work closely with our experienced team members to identify challenges and plan ahead for critical project activities, ensuring that our projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities:

Key Daily Responsibilities:

  • Provides administrative and technical support to the project team, ensuring seamless project execution.
  • Assists with Request for Information (RFI), document control and management, creation and tracking of submittals, cost tracking, and schedule updates, ensuring timely and accurate project information.
  • Summarizes key discussions, questions, and decisions from project team meetings, owner meetings, and weekly subcontractor meetings, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
  • Reviews and understands specification books to ensure compliance and project quality, upholding our commitment to excellence.
  • Assists the Project Manager with identifying necessary inspections, creating a project-specific inspection log, establishing relationships with inspectors, scheduling inspections, and ensuring readiness for inspection.
  • Updates contract drawings to reflect approved changes and ensures trade contractor document updates, maintaining accurate project records.
  • Supports Superintendents with daily reports and manages progress and quality photos, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Posts required safety information and signage, ensuring site hazards are clearly communicated to workers and visitors, and confirms personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn at all times.
  • Models safety awareness and planning at all times, observing safety practices and reporting concerns to the Project Superintendent or Project Manager.
  • Supports logistics for all safety initiatives outlined in the site-specific safety plan, prioritizing a safe working environment.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic project environment.

What We're Looking For:

  • Active, full-time Sophomore-Senior level student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Previous work or internship experience in the commercial construction industry is preferred, but not required.
  • Shows participation and/or leadership roles in student organizations or extracurricular club activities, demonstrating a commitment to personal and professional growth.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA, indicating strong academic achievement and a foundation for future success.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

The majority of work is completed on-site, where you'll be exposed to various weather conditions and temperatures. The position requires wearing protective equipment, including hardhats, safety glasses, and highly visible clothing, to ensure a safe working environment. You'll be expected to occasionally stand, walk, sit, and perform other physical tasks, as well as use a telephone and operate a keyboard.
