Primary Objective

The Cloud Platform Engineer will act as a visionary leader, collaborating with a dedicated team to define and implement cloud solutions that ensure security, reliability, availability, and self-service capabilities to meet the comprehensive cloud platform requirements of product development teams.

Your role will involve providing robust technical leadership and direction in the deployment and management of various Azure services.

Our flexible hybrid work model includes three in-office days at one of our primary locations and two remote days.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, construct, manage, and operate Azure Core Services utilizing automation and infrastructure as code.
  • Develop and maintain the continuous delivery framework and tools, managing and automating the lifecycle of various platform components to support product teams.
  • Lead engineering practices within the team, focusing on test-driven development and continuous delivery of infrastructure.
  • Integrate diverse components and create new services with a strong emphasis on customer requirements.
  • Analyze performance trends and anticipated changes in demand and capacity; establish scalability strategies.
  • Identify and resolve availability and performance challenges across Azure Services and on-premises systems.
  • Advise on and uphold Azure policies, governance, cost management guidelines, and best practices.
  • Create and document detailed designs, as-built documentation, and standards on collaboration platforms.
  • Collaborate with Solution Architecture, Platform Engineering, and Product teams to deliver effective solutions.
  • Engage in project management and agile scrum teams in a leadership capacity as part of a broader team.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of IT experience with a focus on infrastructure, including server, storage, network, security, and identity management.
  • 4+ years of experience in building, maintaining, and automating Azure environments within enterprise settings.
  • 3+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as ARM, Terraform, JSON, PowerShell, and GitHub, with a preference for expertise in Terraform.
  • 4+ years of hands-on technical experience with:
    • Azure Virtual Network, VWAN, ExpressRoute, Load Balancer (L4/L7), Traffic Manager, CDN, Azure DNS, and routing protocols like BGP.
    • Azure Identity services, including Azure AD, PIM, Conditional Access, MFA, Azure AD Connect, and Microsoft Defender.
    • Azure Governance, Security, Monitoring, Compliance, and cost management.
    • Azure Virtual Machines, Containers, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
    • Azure Storage solutions, including Accounts, Disk, Snapshot, Backup, Site Recovery, and Data Lake.
  • Certifications: Azure Administrator (mandatory), Azure DevOps (preferred), Azure Solutions Architect (preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Practical experience deploying Azure Enterprise-scale reference architecture and its components.
  • Experience in Full Stack Cloud Infrastructure Engineering, Operations, and Application Knowledge.
  • Ability to thrive in an Extreme Programming environment and engage in paired programming/engineering.
  • Capable of facilitating diverse teams, managing multiple tasks, and working under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Hands-on experience with IaC tools such as ADO, ARM, Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, Python, azcli, and GitHub.
  • Design, configuration, and maintenance of Kubernetes environments using AKS.
  • Technical proficiency in Windows/Linux/VMware/Hyper-V/AKS, SQL and No-SQL databases, IaaS, PaaS, FaaS, Data, BCDR, Security, Management, Storage, Networking, Monitoring, Identity, and Connectivity.
  • Experience working in DevOps and Agile methodologies.
