Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team in Brooklyn Residential Program. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will be responsible for providing medical treatment, first aid, and emergency care to individuals with developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical treatment, first aid, and emergency care to individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Assist Registered Nurses in coordinating health care services for assigned residences.
  • Keep progress notes and summarize for quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reviews.
  • Provide direct hygiene and health instruction to individuals receiving services and families as required.
  • Handle control of communicable diseases and infections through identification and assessment, reporting any findings to Registered Nurses and consulting physicians.
  • Provide first aid to persons in need of immediate care, with referral to Registered Nurses or outside emergency services as necessary.
  • Assist physicians in medical examinations as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of examinations, immunizations, illnesses, accidents, and other pertinent data via progress notes.
  • Administer medications when appropriate and supervise storage of medications.
  • Assist Registered Nurses in maintaining AMAP re-certification files.
  • Obtain consent for surgery of residents in absence of Registered Nurses.
  • Refer all consults and diagnostic reports to Registered Nurses for review.
  • Attend and transport clients to appointments as necessary.
  • Attend team meetings as scheduled.
  • Carry work phone and be on-call, responding to questions regarding physician and RN treatment plans.
  • Keep abreast of changes in the Nursing field.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited program of professional nursing.
  • At least one year of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the delivery of community-based health services to individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Experience working with high-medical needs, e.g., g-tubes & tracheostomy tubes, is a plus.
  • License and current registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of New York.
  • Valid New York State Driver's License and maintain it in good standing.
  • CPR certified.

Work Schedule

Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday - 9AM to 9PM

Compensation

$38 - $43/hour + Industry Leading Benefits
