Surgical Technologist Weekends

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at BSW Waxahachie Main OR. This is a weekend position, working 3x12s, with a call response time of 30 minutes. The ideal candidate will have experience in scrubbing into gen surg, ortho, gyn, podiatry, ent, and vascular procedures, with a strong understanding of infection prevention and regulatory sterilization standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Discuss special needs with the surgeon before surgery and scrub into surgery in an adequate time for proper preparation of instruments.
  • Prepare the operative site by aseptically cleaning and patient clipping, as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain the instrument table(s) in an organized and comprehensive manner.
  • Identify damaged or incomplete trays and rectify discrepancies immediately.
  • Set up the operating room according to surgical procedure schedules.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies during surgical procedures.
  • Perform surgical counts of sponges, sharps, instruments, and misc. items.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team staff.
Requirements:
  • Grad of an Accredited Program
  • Less than 1 Year of Experience
  • Cert Surgical Technologist (CST) from NBSTSA or NCCT, or Completion of formal training in ST from Military/Public Health Service, or Employed in ST role in a Healthcare facility prior to 9/1/2009.
