Role Summary:
This role is essential in overseeing daily operations and ensuring adherence to all relevant policies, procedures, and accreditation standards. The Diagnostic Technologist II plays a critical role in preparing patients and executing routine diagnostic procedures as per physician directives and established protocols. This position is committed to upholding the mission, vision, and values of Mary Washington Healthcare while delivering exceptional service to patients, families, and the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures by confirming physician orders, verifying identities, and collecting comprehensive medical histories.
- Conduct diagnostic examinations across all age groups while maintaining clinical proficiency.
- Adhere to departmental standards, protocols, and policies.
- Exhibit a thorough understanding of diagnostic services and procedures.
- Ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, following radiation safety protocols.
- Administer contrast agents in accordance with established guidelines, ensuring proper selection and dosage.
- Document patient and procedural data accurately to facilitate billing and operational efficiency.
- Manage staff schedules to guarantee adequate coverage.
- Review daily schedules to ensure proper patient appointments and necessary documentation are in place.
- Serve as a Clinical Instructor for diagnostic imaging students.
- Provide management with technical quality assessments of imaging results.
- Ensure high-quality X-Ray images are produced and address any quality control issues.
- Compile daily volume and monthly repeat rate reports for management review.
- Collaborate with management to research and implement new programs and technologies.
- Monitor and report departmental performance metrics.
- Assist in maintaining departmental goals and quality standards.
- Oversee quality control and maintenance schedules for diagnostic equipment.
- Maintain adequate inventory levels of supplies to ensure uninterrupted service.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience: ARRT certification in Radiologic Technology.
- Completion of an accredited two-year Radiologic Technology program or equivalent.
- Licensure: Virginia State Radiologic Technologist License for outpatient facilities.
- Certification: BLS for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association.
