The Pharmacy Educator will play a crucial role in training and developing pharmacy technicians to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality patient care. This position will work closely with clinical leaders and subject matter experts to design and implement training programs that meet the operational needs of the pharmacy team.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and deliver initial education and training programs for new pharmacy technicians
- Plan and implement ongoing educational activities and in-services to support individual development and organizational goals
- Provide timely feedback to team members on their performance and progress
- Collaborate with the pharmacy operations supervisor to assess and evaluate the progression of orientation within the pharmacy
- Identify and address any training needs or gaps in the team's knowledge and skills
- Contribute to the development of competencies and educational modules in conjunction with subject matter experts
- Educate staff on standards and regulations for CMS and TJC
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Active Kentucky Board of Pharmacy registration
- Active PTCB Pharmacy Technician Certification or National Healthcareer Association Certified Pharmacy Technician certification
- Three years of inpatient pharmacy experience
- Proficient Microsoft Office Suite skills
- Trained in sterile product compounding
The pharmacy is a fast-paced environment with constant exposure to blood and body fluids, infection, and moderate noise levels.
Physical Demands- Occasional lifting and moving of items up to 100 pounds
- Constant communication with patients and other care team members
