Equipment and Systems Specialist

The Transportation & Parking Services department at Portland State University is seeking a skilled Equipment and Systems Specialist to support our technical equipment, software, and reporting needs. This is a permanent full-time position within an innovative team-oriented environment located in downtown Portland, offering a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth.
Key Responsibilities- Research and test new equipment to ensure compatibility and efficiency
- Build and maintain relationships with vendors to secure the best deals and services
- Develop and maintain reports and integrations to support departmental operations
- Provide training and problem-solving assistance to department staff
- Assist with general operations and work closely with all TAPS staff
- Bachelor's degree or 2 years of relevant IT experience in place of a degree
- Professional experience in supporting software, equipment, and/or hardware
- Background in providing exceptional customer service
- Proven ability to work in a collaborative, technical team-driven environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff
- Strong IT fundamentals in networking, access control, security, system administration, etc.
- Proven track record of synthesizing and solving problems using IT platforms and tools
- Direct responsibility over the configuration, operation, and maintenance of one or more business applications
- Experience leveraging, creating, reviewing, and updating technical documentation
- Experience providing formal and informal training
- Working knowledge of data extraction techniques and reporting methodologies
- Experience configuring data integrations/exchanges between various applications
- Previous experience working in a higher education environment or parking enforcement/transportation environment
- Experience with parking database and citation management platforms
- Project management skills including communication, organization, facilitation, and independent decision making

Total Compensation Range & BenefitsThe starting salary rate for this position will be between $23.18 and $27.81 per hour. The starting salary will be dependent upon the knowledge, experience, skills, and abilities of the chosen candidate, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
Portland State has an excellent benefits package including 95% employer-paid health insurance premiums (employees and eligible dependents) and significantly reduced tuition rates for employees and eligible dependents at any of the Oregon Public Universities. After completing six full months, employees are eligible to the employer-paid pension program in addition to two voluntary retirement programs. Wellness options include access to the PSU Rec Center at a reduced rate and free wellness programs.
