Phlebotomy Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Specialist to join our team at Prisma Health. As a healthcare pioneer, you will play a vital role in transforming patient care and making a lasting impact on our community.

• Collect blood samples from patients with precision and care, ensuring accurate identification and labeling of specimens.
• Accession samples into computer systems for timely testing and billing, adhering to established standards and practices.
• Review outstanding workload reports to optimize collection efficiency.
• Perform Point-of-Care testing and sample processing as assigned.

1. Verify patient and specimen identification using correct techniques, policies, and protocols.
2. Properly label specimens with required information, utilizing alternate patient identification procedures when necessary.
3. Input and assess information accurately and promptly via hospital and laboratory computer systems.

• Instruct patients on preparation or collection for tests ordered, distributing collection containers as needed.
• Organize and prioritize tasks efficiently, utilizing time effectively to meet deadlines.
• Follow safety procedures and respond correctly to safety violations and drills.
• Process specimens for testing, including identifying, sorting, aliquoting, centrifuging, and labeling appropriately.

The successful candidate must hold current certifications such as PBT(ASCP) or RPT(AMT), demonstrating expertise in phlebotomy and commitment to ongoing professional development.
