Job Title: Occupational Therapy Assistant - PRN

Emerald Nursing and Rehab Columbus is seeking a skilled Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team on a PRN basis.

Job Summary:

As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our patients in a skilled nursing facility. Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, you will assist in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans aimed at improving patients' ability to perform daily living activities, enhancing their quality of life, and facilitating their overall rehabilitation goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement treatment plans as developed by the Occupational Therapist, assisting patients with therapeutic exercises, activities, and functional tasks.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, including physical and emotional responses to therapy, and educate patients and their families on strategies to improve daily functioning and independence.
  • Participate in patient evaluations and assessments, providing relevant input to the Occupational Therapist, and maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care, progress, and any changes in condition.
  • Collaborate with the Occupational Therapist and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care, communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members regarding treatment plans and progress, and attend and contribute to team meetings and case conferences as needed.
  • Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients, follow facility procedures for handling equipment and materials used in therapy, and stay updated with continuing education and professional development to maintain licensure and enhance clinical skills.
Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program from an accredited institution.
  • Current state licensure or certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility or similar setting preferred, but not required.
