About the Cardiothoracic ICU
Our 14-bed Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) provides specialized care for adults with complex cardiac conditions. Our dedicated team manages advanced hemodynamics, telemetry, and device monitoring in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-acuity, complex care to over 4,000 critically ill adults annually.
What You'll Do
- Conduct thorough clinical assessments, prioritize patient and family needs, create, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans. Adjust plans to achieve desired outcomes.
- Build strong therapeutic relationships with patients and families by managing discomfort and maintaining professionalism. Create care plans that reflect shared values and address concerns effectively.
- Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members to empower them with knowledge for better healthcare decisions. Regularly assess and respond to learning needs.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current and valid nursing license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an ICU Registered Nurse, with a minimum of 1 year of experience in a CTICU setting.
- Experience with Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps, Impella, and post-operative heart care is highly preferred.
- Dedicated to the CTICU or CVICU specialty, not just a floater.
- Involvement in unit council or other initiatives to improve patient care and unit operations.
- ECMO experience is a plus.
