Job Summary

A Nurse Practitioner at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care, encompassing diagnosis, treatment, and consultation. This advanced practice nurse works independently or as part of a treatment team, providing essential care to patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough physical examinations, order necessary tests, and serve as a primary healthcare provider for patients.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, taking into account patients' unique needs and medical histories.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest medical research, best practices, and evidence-based guidelines to provide the highest level of care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Nursing and current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner, requiring successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.
  • Appropriate credentialing through the Medical Staff Credentialing process and adherence to Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules & Regulations.
  • Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by department or privileging criteria.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated clinical competence and in-depth knowledge of specialty area.
  • Leadership, teaching, research, and communication skills.

Working Conditions

Nurse Practitioners at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to provide exceptional patient care. A supervising physician must be readily available to assess and intervene with patients being seen by the Nurse Practitioner.

Supervision and Accountability

The supervising physician must personally document a face-to-face evaluation of patient on the day of discharge, prior to discharge. Without specific credentialing for additional duties, Nurse Practitioners may only perform routine day-to-day monitoring of inpatients, including appropriate medical record notes, dictated summaries, and orders for tests and treatments.
