Job Title: Africa Regional Advocacy Associate Director

Join the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids as an Africa Regional Advocacy Associate Director and contribute to our mission to protect public health and prevent non-communicable diseases in Africa.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our advocacy efforts in Africa, focusing on policy and regulatory change to reduce the burden of cardiovascular diseases. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with civil society organizations, governments, and multilateral partners to develop and implement effective advocacy strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement advocacy strategies to reduce the death and disease burden from unhealthy food consumption in select African countries.
  • Provide technical support and capacity building to in-country coordinators and partners to enhance their advocacy skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Cardiovascular Health Program to manage grants and contracts, ensuring timely and effective implementation of advocacy campaigns.
  • Represent GHAI in external meetings with global and in-country partners, donors, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Liaise between the headquarters team in DC and in-country coordinators and partners to ensure effective communication and coordination.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in public policy, communications, public health, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in policy issues in global health, preferably in non-communicable diseases and food and nutrition policies.
  • Strong experience working with civil society and government stakeholders in Africa.
  • Impeccable project management skills and the ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Proven track record of working on multi-faceted and complex projects related to policy change in global health.
