Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Head Start Family Specialist to join our team at the Clinton Hill Community & Early Childhood Center. As a key member of our Family Services Team, you will play a vital role in supporting the well-being and development of our program participants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit, enroll, and maintain registration for student population, ensuring seamless transitions to preschool programs.
  • Assist families in accessing high-quality health, mental health, nutrition, parental engagement, and social services, promoting overall family well-being.
  • Build strong partnerships with families to identify their goals, strengths, and needed services, developing strategies for achieving their objectives.
  • Conduct regular home visits and document results, maintaining accurate records of individual contacts and family progress.
  • Collaborate with families and relevant agencies to ensure the safety, permanency, and well-being of children and families referred to or involved with child welfare agencies.
  • Support families through the transition process into preschool programs, ensuring a smooth and successful transition.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and professional development activities as assigned, staying up-to-date on best practices and industry developments.
  • Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed, to meet the needs of our program participants.
Requirements
  • Intermediate or advanced proficiency in office suite software, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate through electronic means.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain a positive attitude while providing exceptional family service.
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction, while also contributing to team goals and tasks.
  • Family Development Credential (FDC) or equivalent required, with an Associate Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Family Services, Counseling, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous work experience in a related field and prior documented work or volunteer experience in an Early Head Start or Head Start program are highly desirable.
