About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pathologist Assistant to join our team at Ochsner Clinic Foundation. As a key member of our surgical pathology team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform gross examinations of surgical specimens to identify and document relevant anatomical features.
  • Assist pathologists in all areas of surgical pathology, excluding consultation and reporting of specimens.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient-related information and adhere to strict standards of patient privacy.
  • Coordinate gross room operations, including specimen processing and storage.
  • Function as a preceptor for new employees, providing guidance and training on surgical pathology procedures.
  • Support departmental goals and objectives, contributing to a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Science or a related field.
  • Two years of acceptable training program or equivalent experience.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Windows-style applications and software packages specific to the role.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret a variety of information for accurate and concise reporting.
