Job Description

The Patient Access Specialist II role at Cook Children's Medical Center requires a detail-oriented individual to provide timely service and accurate patient information. As the nucleus of registration, this position interfaces directly with patients and is responsible for maintaining knowledge of JCAHO, Patient Rights and Responsibilities, HIPAA, HMOs, PPOs, Commercial Payors, and departmental/System policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Registration: Accurately capture patient demographic and third-party information, ensuring high-quality data for reimbursement purposes.
  • Scheduling: Schedule appointments and perform front-office intake functions efficiently.
  • Certification/Licensure: Obtain CPR certification within 30 days of hire and maintain it throughout employment.
Requirements

To excel in this role, you must possess:

  • A High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, documentation, and customer service skills.
  • 1-2 years of hospital admissions or equivalent experience.
  • Other hospital or physician office experience preferred.
