Key Responsibilities- Manage the daily operations of the vehicle fleet to achieve high service standards while minimizing costs.
- Develop and maintain accurate records to effectively track shipments and drivers.
- Keep precise documentation regarding vehicle usage, condition, and maintenance schedules.
- Optimize the use of tractors and trailers by creating efficient delivery routes.
- Establish a comprehensive inspection program to protect equipment and a maintenance schedule to ensure operational efficiency.
- Advise on specifications for new equipment acquisitions.
- Propose enhancements to fleet operations to the Transportation Manager.
- Deliver a service level that meets or surpasses customer expectations.
- Supervise clerical staff and drivers to meet established goals.
- Foster a productive team environment through effective hiring, training, and professional development.
- Align the skills and experiences of team members with job requirements.
- Utilize effective communication and motivational strategies to manage, guide, and discipline staff.
- Implement a performance review system for promotions, salary adjustments, and terminations.
- Establish a driver safety initiative.
- Oversee the processing of bills of lading, ensuring accurate billing practices.
- Set up a trip reporting system and manage the reports from all drivers and shipments.
- Ensure timely completion and submission of Department of Transportation reports.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
- 0 to 3 years of experience in transportation and fleet management is necessary.
