Job Title: HPC Systems Engineer

XCEL Engineering Inc. is seeking an experienced HPC Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will play a crucial role in improving the security, performance, and reliability of our HPC environments.

Job Overview

The HPC Systems Engineer will be responsible for facilitating R&D projects, providing design, deployment, optimization, monitoring, and tooling support across multiple clustered infrastructures for the research organizations we support. This includes managing systems utilizing GPU/Cuda clusters for AI/ML and/or image processing, as well as experience with performance and diagnostic tools for benchmarking, analysis, and tuning of systems, networking, and storage.

Responsibilities
  • Manage UNIX/Linux Systems with a minimum of 3 years of experience
  • Utilize configuration management and automation tools such as Git, Jenkins, Ansible, or Puppet
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and system administration with Linux Servers
  • Support large data systems
  • Demonstrate capabilities to work in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance if needed, which requires US Citizenship
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related field) or combined work experience plus education of 5 years
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience managing UNIX/Linux Systems
  • Strong knowledge of multiple operating systems
  • Experience with Centos/RHEL 7+, Centos/RHEL 8+, Ubuntu 18+
Working Conditions

The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The job requires working on a computer for long periods of time and may involve long periods of sitting at a desk.
