Job Title: Middle School ELA Teacher

Central Catholic School is seeking a qualified substitute teacher to fill a long-term position in our middle school English Language Arts department. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade ELA, as well as homeroom instruction.

Job Summary:

The long-term substitute teacher will be responsible for providing classroom coverage for an extended period of time. This includes supervising students, managing classroom behavior, and performing other assigned duties in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Follow the curriculum and instructions provided by the regular teacher while performing supervision and classroom management.
  • Work as a team/partner with other classroom teachers to ensure a smooth transition and maintain student learning.
  • Maintain confidential information about students' developmental assessments, individual goals, and observations of progress toward meeting goals.
  • Supervise small group supplemental scholar programming and collect data that demonstrates growth relating to scholar instruction.
  • Help supervise school events, field trips, and other school-related activities.
  • Work with and maintain good relationships with children, parents, and parish groups and volunteers.
  • Comply with all school regulations and policies at all times.
  • Model the mission and values of Central Catholic.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of instructional and curricular resources and their purposes in an educational setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Background screening required.
Working Environment:

The substitute teacher will work in a school setting, which may include exposure to loud noises, moderate to high levels of stress, and exposure to weather conditions to provide needed outdoor supervision.

The physical demands of the job include bending, stooping, stretching, climbing, walking, standing, sitting, and lifting up to 5 pounds, occasionally.
